Topstep Payout Rules: What It Takes to Get Paid

Topstep Payout Rules: What It Takes to Get Paid. Ordane Journal.

Topstep payout rules are the published conditions that decide when a trader on a Topstep funded account can withdraw realized profits: a $125 minimum request, a default 90/10 profit split, winning-day requirements and account-specific payout caps. This article decodes each condition as the firm's own policy pages state it.

Ordane accounts operate on simulated capital. No live funds are traded and no deposits are accepted. Payouts depend on simulated performance under Rulebook v1.5; no level of performance is typical or assured.

In one sentence: Topstep payout rules sit in one published policy: requests must clear a $125 minimum, Express Funded Account eligibility on the Standard path takes 5 winning days of $150+ Net P&L, XFA requests are capped at 50% of the account balance, and 30 qualifying days of $150+ unlock daily payouts with no dollar cap in the Live Funded Account.

Ordane sells one product, the Ordane Instant Account: direct access, no evaluation phase and no challenge, on simulated capital. (Ordane Rulebook v1.4, section 1, retrieved October 2026)

This article walks through the payout rules as Topstep itself publishes them, so you know exactly what applies to your account before you face the withdrawal requirements prop firms set. For a side-by-side look at two account models, read how Topstep compares with Ordane.

A quick scope note: everything here comes from Topstep's own policy pages, retrieved in October 2026. Prop firm terms change, so always verify against the live policy before acting.

Does Topstep Actually Pay Out? What the Published Policy Says

What Topstep actually publishes is a complete payout policy, and that policy is the evidence base this article uses. A payout at Topstep is a withdrawal of realized profits from a funded account: either an Express Funded Account (XFA) or a Live Funded Account. Traders in the Trading Combine or other evaluation stages cannot request payouts; only funded traders can. Topstep's own homepage invites you to "learn and trade futures with our prop firm capital and keep up to 90% of your profits" (Topstep, retrieved October 2026).

Two documents carry most of the weight:

  • The Topstep Payout Policy in the Help Center, which sets the minimum payout at $125 and the default profit split at 90/10, with the trader keeping 90% (Topstep Help Center, retrieved October 2026).
  • The Express Funded Account Parameters page, which defines eligibility conditions and caps per XFA path (Topstep Help Center, retrieved October 2026).

These are primary sources: the firm's own rules, in its own words, which is the strongest evidence for what the policy is; it tells you the conditions, not independently verified proof that every payout is honored. If you are curious how a firm can pay out when trading is simulated, we cover the mechanics in our guide to the source of prop firm payout money.

Which Hidden Rule Can Zero Your Topstep Withdrawal?

Three published conditions can delay, shrink or block a Topstep withdrawal even after you are funded: the winning-day requirement, the XFA payout cap and the 40% consistency target. None are secret; traders miss them because each applies to a different account path.

Winning days: 5 days of $150+ on the XFA Standard path

On the Express Funded Account Standard path, payout eligibility requires 5 winning days of $150+ Net P&L (Topstep Help Center, retrieved October 2026). Importantly, those days don't need to be consecutive: a strong Monday, a weak Tuesday and a strong Wednesday still count as two winning days toward your five. A "winning day" means the day closes with $150 or more in net profit; a day that ends just below that bar doesn't count, and neither does a losing day, no matter how small the loss. One more condition rides along: the account must be net positive since your last payout, and a first payout is exempt from it.

Payout caps: 50% of balance on XFA only

Even after you're eligible, Express Funded Account requests are capped at 50% of the account balance, up to a path-specific maximum detailed below (Topstep Help Center, retrieved October 2026). These dollar caps apply to XFA accounts only: Live Funded Account payouts carry no dollar cap, though before daily payouts unlock they are still limited to 50% of the balance per request.

The 40% consistency target on the XFA Consistency path

If you're on the Consistency path instead, eligibility shifts from winning days to a different test: 3 days traded plus a 40% consistency target, meaning no single day should dominate your overall profits. One outsized day can push you over the threshold and block the payout until your other days catch up. For a deeper explanation of how these rules work across the industry, see what the consistency rule means at prop firms. If a request is ever denied, here is what to do when a prop firm denies your payout.

XFA vs Live Funded Account: Two Different Payout Paths

Topstep runs two funded account types with different payout rules: the Express Funded Account, where requests are capped, and the Live Funded Account, where they are not. Knowing which account you are in determines everything above.

XFA Standard vs XFA Consistency, side by side

XFA StandardXFA Consistency
Payout eligibility5 winning days of $150+3 days traded, 40% consistency target
Max payout50% of balance, up to $5,00050% of balance, up to $6,000
Profit split (default)90/1090/10

The XFA has no profit target, and both paths share the default 90/10 split; the difference is the eligibility gate and the ceiling: Consistency trades a higher cap ($6,000 vs $5,000) for the consistency requirement, while Standard demands more qualifying days up front. Both ceilings are policy fields: a limited-time DLL exception on the parameters page can double those per-request caps while it runs (Topstep Help Center, retrieved October 2026).

How daily payouts unlock in the Live Funded Account

The Live Funded Account is where the policy gets generous: once you've earned $150+ Net P&L on 30 non-consecutive days, you unlock daily payouts: a minimum of $125, requestable once per day (Topstep Help Center, retrieved October 2026). And unlike the XFA, Live Funded Account payouts carry no dollar cap. Before those 30 days are banked, the account still pays under stricter conditions: ordinary requests require five winning days of $150+ within the payout cycle and are limited to 50% of the balance. Non-consecutive means good days accumulate, and a losing streak doesn't erase the ones you've banked.

Is Topstep Still Operating and Honoring Payouts?

Whether Topstep is still operating and honoring payouts is not something the firm's own pages can prove; what you can verify is that the payout policy is live, dated and fresh, and that check is the strongest continuity signal available to a buyer without access to Topstep's books. The published policy is the evidence base here, so what you can do is verify it is current:

  1. Check the policy pages directly. The payout policy and XFA parameters pages are the source of truth; if the figures there differ from this article, the live pages win. The research behind this piece has a validity window into early 2027.
  2. Look for dated updates. Help Center articles typically show revision history or "updated" timestamps. A recently revised payout policy is a sign the terms are actively maintained.
  3. Confirm before you commit. Before paying for any evaluation, run through how to audit a prop firm: published payout terms are a transparency signal, not proof of solvency.

For the downside scenario, what happens if a prop firm shuts down explains how funded-account profits are treated and why payout timing matters.

Split and Minimum: What You Actually Keep

You keep 90% of any approved payout, and no request below $125 is accepted: that is the money math in one line.

The default split is 90/10. Payouts under the current policy keep 90/10 on both XFA paths and the Live Funded Account; the one published exception is the earlier cohort: traders who joined the new Topstep dashboard before January 12, 2026 keep 100% of their first $10,000 in profits before the split applies (Topstep Help Center, retrieved October 2026). For how splits are calculated and how they scale with performance across firms, see prop firm profit splits explained.

The minimum payout is $125. You can't request less, and this minimum also applies to daily payouts once unlocked in the Live Funded Account. Practically, a small balance can lock you out: on the XFA, the 50%-of-balance cap has to leave room for a $125 request, so a fresh account may need to grow first.

A worked example: an XFA Standard trader with a $4,000 balance who qualifies with 5 winning days can request up to $2,000 (50% of balance, under the $5,000 ceiling) and receives $1,800 after the 90/10 split, before any payout-method fees that may apply to the transfer. A Live Funded trader who has banked 30 qualifying days can request daily, with no dollar cap on the request.
