Ordane vs Topstep: Instant vs Combine
Ordane accounts operate on simulated capital. No live funds are traded and no deposits are accepted. Payouts depend on simulated performance under Rulebook v1.0; no level of performance is typical or assured.
Ordane sells one product, the Ordane Instant Account: direct access, no evaluation phase and no challenge, on simulated capital.
This page is a document comparison, not a recommendation to buy any account. Read each firm's rulebook on the day you pay.
What does Ordane vs Topstep actually compare?
A one-sentence definition
Ordane sells a one-time Instant Account with no evaluation phase, while Topstep sells a monthly Trading Combine you must pass before activating an Express payout-eligible account, with optional activation fee paths.
If you trade futures only, Topstep product map is the native one. If you want Instant access on Ordane instrument set with a static drawdown floor, Ordane is the native one. Cross shopping still helps you see how fee shape and loss floors differ before you pay either firm.
Same word, different product
"Prop firm" hides the venue. Topstep's help center prices Combines in buying power tiers (50K / 100K / 150K) and talks contracts, micros, and CT session hours. Ordane's rulebook prices Instant sizes in USD simulated balance and runs on Ordane's own platform, with FX, metals, indices, and crypto as the published instrument set. A $50,000 label is not the same economic object on both sites. Treat the label as a conversation starter, then read the product pages for what you can actually trade.

How the Topstep path works
Trading Combine
Topstep Combine has one hard rule and two objectives: do not hit the Maximum Loss Limit; reach the Profit Target; meet the Consistency Target (parameters). On a 50K Combine the MLL is $2,000 below the starting balance and trails upward with end-of-day balance growth until it locks at the starting balance (MLL article). Both realized and unrealized P&L count in real time on that page. The 50K Profit Target is $3,000, with a best day recommendation below $1,500 under the 50% consistency framing (consistency). You cannot pass in a single day under that help text; two days is the stated minimum shape when the best day stays under the threshold.
Max position size on 50K is 5 minis or 50 micros (parameters). That constraint is part of the product, not an optional tip.
Pricing paths
For 50K, Topstep's help center lists Standard Path at $49/month with a $149 Activation Fee charged once per Express payout-eligible account earned, and a No Activation Fee Path at $95/month with $0 activation when you pass. Paths cannot be changed after purchase (pricing, retrieved 2026-08-15). Resets are priced on the same size ladder. Level 1 data is included; Level 2 DOM is $38/month billed on the 28th and not prorated on that page.
After you pass
Profits from the Combine do not transfer into the Express payout-eligible account (parameters FAQ). The subscription cancels on pass; you activate XFA from the dashboard, with timing notes for Friday passes and Sunday reopen. Activation timing and payout rules live in Topstep XFA and Payout Policy articles. Read those before you treat "passed" as "paid."
How the Ordane Instant Account works
Ordane sells one product: the Ordane Instant Account. Direct access, no evaluation phase and no challenge (Rulebook §1). At $50,000 the fee is $549 one-time. The ladder also lists $2,500/$59, $10,000/$139, $25,000/$299, and $100,000/$999 with no recurring fees on that table (Rulebook §1, retrieved 2026-08-15).
R-1 is a 5% static floor on initial balance. R-2 daily loss is 3% of day-start balance. R-3 caps risk per trade with a mandatory stop. R-4 consistency defers excess day profit rather than confiscating it under the published wording. R-5 closes inactive accounts after 30 days. R-6 is a closed prohibited list with Appendix A definitions. PA-1 opens first withdrawal after 7 calendar days, then every 14 days. PA-2 / PA-3 publish the split ladder with early caps on withdrawals #1 and #2. G-0 / G-1 put approval and payment on clock hours. Ordane is new; PR-2 states there is no payout history to report until activity begins.

Worked fee check at the $50K label
Hold the label fixed and spell the cash path.
- Ordane Instant $50,000: $549 once. Trading under R-1/R-2 from day one. No monthly Combine bill (Rulebook §1).
- Topstep 50K Standard, pass in month 1: $49 + $149 activation = $198 before any reset or Level 2 data (pricing).
- Topstep 50K Standard, pass in month 3: $49 × 3 + $149 = $296, still before resets.
- Topstep 50K No Activation Fee, pass in month 1: $95 with $0 activation on that path.
- Add Level 2: +$38/month while you keep it.
- Reset example: a Standard 50K reset lists at $49 on the same pricing article; each reset is another cash ticket if you breach MLL before the target.
Ordane costs more than a clean one-month Topstep Standard pass at the headline math. Topstep costs more than Ordane one-time fee if you grind months, reset, or add DOM data. Failed Combines are part of the real price; Ordane Instant fee does not refund on a breach either. Pick the path that matches how many attempts you honestly expect, not the best case screenshot.
What does the document checklist restate?
| Check | Ordane Instant | Topstep Combine path |
|---|---|---|
| Evaluation required? | No (Rulebook §1) | Yes (Trading Combine) (parameters) |
| $50K class door fee (2026-08-15 read) | $549 one-time | From $49/month + $149 activation (Standard) (pricing) |
| Loss floor | R-1 5% static | MLL $2,000 trailing EOD on 50K (MLL) |
| Profit target to start | None | $3,000 on 50K Combine (consistency) |
| Venue | FX / metals / indices / crypto | US futures Combine |
Where Topstep is the clearer fit (concession)
Topstep is the better fit when you:
- Trade US futures and want Combine parameters written for contracts and micros.
- Want the lowest cash start on a 50K Standard Path month ($49) while you evaluate.
- Prefer a trailing MLL design you already understand, including the lock behavior after the floor reaches starting balance.
- Want a long-running US futures brand with a large help center and an Express to Live path Topstep documents publicly.
- Need buying power tiers above Ordane Instant top size (Topstep lists 150K Combine tiers; Ordane Instant top published size is $100,000).
Ordane does not pretend to be a Topstep Combine clone. If futures is the job, buy the futures evaluation stack after you read Topstep's own MLL and payout pages.
Where Ordane differs on purpose
Ordane is for traders who want Instant simulated access, a static 5% floor, a one-time fee table, and a versioned rulebook with a closed prohibited list. You skip the Combine profit target. You accept a higher door price at the $50K label than a single Topstep month, a starting 60% split with early caps, and no multi-year payout ledger yet (PR-2).
Also accept the venue difference. Ordane published stack is not Topstep futures Combine. Do not import contract sizing habits into FX risk without rewriting the math. Do not import Ordane static 5% into a Topstep MLL plan without rewriting that math either.
For drawdown vocabulary across firms, see static vs trailing drawdown. For fee stacks beyond the door price, see prop firm hidden fees.
The sector risk of firm disappearance is not theoretical: Finance Magnates Intelligence estimated that between 80 and 100 proprietary trading firms may have disappeared from the market in 2024. (Finance Magnates, retrieved 2026-08-15). That is why the pre-pay document check matters more than brand familiarity.
Also map loss floors with prop firm profit split explained.
Pre-pay checklist (both firms)
- Confirm the venue: futures Combine vs Ordane Instant instruments.
- Write fee path: monthly + activation vs one-time; data add-ons; reset prices.
- Write the loss floor: Topstep MLL trailing vs Ordane R-1 static 5%.
- Write consistency / best day rules and first payout documents.
- Save dated PDFs or screenshots before checkout.
- Run how to audit a prop firm on the documents you saved the day you buy.
Then open Ordane accounts and rulebook beside Topstep live dashboard pricing. Do not rely on this page dated snapshot alone.
Worked check: door fee vs first reward gap
Declared inputs for this check only: Ordane Instant fee 549; Topstep Standard month fee 49; Topstep activation 149; simulated size 50000; Ordane R-1 floor percent 5.
Worked arithmetic: 50000 × 0.05 = 2500. Ordane static loss dollars on this size equal 2500. Combine path door dollars for one month then activate: 49 + 149 = 198. Fee gap versus Instant: 549 − 198 = 351. Instant costs 351 more at the door under these declared inputs, and skips the Combine target.
Questions traders ask about Ordane vs Topstep
Can I treat Ordane as a cheaper Topstep?
No. Different venues, different loss floor designs, different fee shapes. Ordane can be more expensive than a fast Topstep pass and cheaper than a long Combine grind. Run the months and resets you actually expect.
Does Topstep use a trailing drawdown?
On the standard Trading Combine, the Maximum Loss Limit trails end-of-day balance growth and can lock at starting balance (MLL). Ordane R-1 is static on initial balance. Same "drawdown" word, different account life.
Does Ordane have a monthly subscription?
The published Instant ladder is one-time with no recurring fees on that table (Rulebook §1). Topstep Combine is a monthly subscription until you pass or cancel (pricing).
What about payout speed?
Ordane publishes PA-1 and G-0/G-1 clocks in the rulebook. Topstep payout timing lives in its Payout Policy help articles. Compare those documents side by side; do not invent a winner from marketing pages.
Which should a new trader pick?
If the trader needs futures contract mechanics and a low monthly entry while learning Combine rules, Topstep is the clearer classroom. If the trader already knows the Instant model, wants a static floor, and accepts Ordane's fee and split tradeoffs in writing, Ordane Instant is the clearer product. Neither choice removes the duty to audit the PDF before paying.
